CLASSES

Star Classes

Star Classes are the Learn to Skate classses organised by the rink and supported by the club. Our Head Coach is present to oversee the classes while individual classes are run by some of our club coaches. We also have club members present to assist you with support, advice and encouragement as you advance through the 4 levels of the program. The Star Classes are held every Saturday morning between 9:00 am and 10:00 am and everyone who has paid for the class is welcome to stay for the session that finishes at11:30 am. This is a fun way of learning the basics of skating, whether you intend to continue with it as a sport or simply want to increase your enjoyment of public skating sessions at the rink. Contact the rink on 3800 7300 for more information.

Bridging Class

This is the next step for skaters wanting to become involved in artistic competition.Skaters are under the direction of club coaches and it is held every Saturday morning between 11:30 and 12:30. The class is for skaters who have mastered the skills taught in the Star Classes and introduces them to the elementary skills needed to compete in freestyle, figures, dance and precision competition. Skaters are also given the chance to perform in front of an audience - very important for future competition.

Figures, Dance, Freeskating

These classes cater for skaters who are competing or ready to compete and are run by coaches at the club. They cater for a range of ability and provide extra tuition and practice in a group situation for the club skaters. Figures, Dance and Freeskating Classes are held on Saturday morning at 7:00 to 8:00. They alternate from week to week between the 3 disciplines.
Please note, from October to the end of 2009, these classes are not being held. Club members will be advised of arrangements for 2010.

PRIVATE LESSONS

Warm up at Nationals

To be seriously competitive in any sport, coaching is a must. We have excellent, experienced coaches at Revolutions for the disciplines of figures, freestyle, dance and precision. Private lessons with our coaches are based on a per 15 minute system. At competitions, coaches provide support and advice to their skaters as Margaret is doing with two of her skaters in the photo to the left.
To organise private lessons, contact the club's Head Coach, Margaret Clough, who is responsible for the overall organisation of the coaching program at the club.
Contact details for our coaches and short profiles are available on our Revolutions' Coaches page.

TRAINING

All the lessons with the best coaches in the world are useless if skaters don't train. Skaters at Revolutions presently have eleven and a half hours per week of rink training time which is organised with the rink through the club. Club coaches conduct private lessons during these times and skaters engaged in a private lesson have right-of-way over other skaters on the floor.

Non-club skaters are welcome to train during these times and pay a per session training fee to do so.
